Among these factors is the extent to which truthfulness governs social relations. Truthfulness is a disposition of the soul that manifests as honesty in speech and integrity in conduct. It originates in the soundness of belief, and other moral virtues arise from this inner disposition. For this reason, scholars of ethics have described truthfulness as “the noblest of the qualities of the soul and the foremost of virtuous moral traits.” This study addresses the following questions: What status does truthfulness occupy in the Qur’an and practical wisdom, and how does it contribute to the advancement of society? The study employs a library-based method of data collection and adopts a descriptive-analytical approach to the examination of the collected material. The findings indicate that truthfulness and veracity are among the most important means of fostering social trust and play a fundamental role in establishing and maintaining social order and cohesion. Truthfulness is also regarded as essential to the survival of society and the legitimacy of rulers. Security, as another defining feature of an advanced society, is likewise considered a consequence of individuals’ adherence to truthfulness in its various dimensions. The study further argues that truthfulness in belief, understood as the correspondence of one’s conception with objective reality, provides the foundation for a proper understanding of progress and sustainable development. It prevents the rights of future generations from being disregarded, protects the environment from harm, and contributes to felicity in the Hereafter. An advanced society is realized through the manifestation of justice in its various spheres; such justice, however, cannot be achieved without cultivating the moral virtues that arise from the disposition of truthfulness انسان چه مدنی بالطبع باشد و چه مدنی بالاستخدام، موجودی اجتماعی است و تعالی زیست اجتماعی او مستلزم عواملی است که باعث ایجاد و تداوم نظم و انسجام جامعه می‌گردد. ازجملۀ این عوامل، میزان حاکمیّت «صداقت» بر روابط اجتماعی است. «صداقت» ملکه‌ای است نفسانی که در گفتار به‌صورت راست‌گویی و در کردار به‌صورت راست‌کرداری نمود می‌یابد و سرمنشأ آن راستی در اعتقاد است و سایر فضایل اخلاقی از این ملکۀ نفسانی نشئت می‌گیرند و بدین دلیل است که علمای اخلاق آن را «اشرف صفات نفسانیه و رئیس اخلاق ملکیّه» دانسته‌اند. این پژوهش با هدف پاسخ به این سؤال شکل‌گرفته است که: «جایگاه صداقت در قرآن و حکمت عملی چیست؟ تأثیر و نقش‌آفرینی آن در تعالی اجتماع چگونه است؟» روش این پژوهش از حیث جمع‌آوری داده‌ها، کتابخانه‌ای و ازلحاظ پردازش اطلاعات، توصیفی و تحلیلی است. نتیجه پژوهش «صدق و راستی» را به‌عنوان مهم‌ترین عامل «اعتمادزا» در اجتماع، سبب ایجاد و استمرار نظم و انسجام اجتماعی می‌داند و آن را شرط بقای جامعه و مشروعیت حاکمان می‌شمرد و «امنیّت» را به‌عنوان شاخصۀ دیگر جامعه متعالی، ره‌آورد التباس اعضای آن به صداقت در ابعاد گوناگون می‌داند. ازنظر نویسنده؛ «صدق» در اعتقاد و تطابق انگاره با عالَم واقع، زمینۀ نگرش صحیح بشریت به «پیشرفت و توسعۀ پایدار» را فراهم می‌آورد و مانع ضایع شدن حقوق آیندگان و دافع ایذاء محیط‌زیست و باعث سعادت در حیات اخروی می‌گردد. جامعۀ متعالی با تجلّی «عدالت» در عرصه‌های مختلف تحقق می‌یابد و این مهم جز با استقرار فضایل اخلاقی منبعث از ملکۀ «صداقت» غیرممکن است.
