Hekmat-e Mota’aliyeh, aimed at reforming and completing practical reason, can only be realized within the framework of social life. Mulla Sadra, as a social philosopher, considers addressing the historical and social conditions of his time to be the philosopher’s duty. He emphasizes this in his works, “Risaleh Kasr Asnam al-Jahiliyeh” and “Risaleh Se Asl.” The study of idol worship and its connection to social ignorance and the critical state of society is a central theme in Mulla Sadra’s philosophy, which remains underexplored in research.Mulla Sadra critiques the social and political conditions of his era, highlighting misunderstandings of religion that can lead to detrimental interpretations with negative future consequences. He views these interpretations as a “mixture of the poison of deceit and the antidote of venom.” Such interpretations cause social drowsiness, plunging many into widespread ignorance and unconsciousness. In “Risaleh Kasr Asnam al-Jahiliyeh,” Mulla Sadra analyzes the social and political conditions of his time, presenting a pathology of social phenomena and critiquing the reference groups that have emerged. He also references divine verses as necessary. “Risaleh Se Asl” outlines a treatise on social self-knowledge and social-political ethics based on three principles discussed in the work. This paper analyzes the social and political crisis through thematic analysis and examines Mulla Sadra’s Quranic references. The findings highlight pervasive themes of “unconsciousness and public ignorance, instrumental religiosity, lack of leadership, and behavioral deviations.” The dismantling of these idols by a philosopher like Mulla Sadra illustrates a way out of this social dilemma, achieved through the themes of “knowledge and self-purification, adherence to Sharia, leadership, and adherence to the Quran.”
